Besides the social pressure of having to constantly produce something new month after month, one of the biggest reasons I no longer regularly interact with the SVFIG or Forth community as a whole is seeing people post stuff like this:

The crux to slaying Python and the whole , I’ll call it C , programming paradigm with the simple ambient Read.It-Do.It vocabulary building FORTH.

C’mon, people. It fucking pisses me off when I see C coders completely (and often willfully) misrepresent the Rust community, and here we see a Forther bashing on the Python community at the very minimum, and I can tell you from experience this individual deliberately also wanted to inflict his vitriol upon the greater C and C-like communities as well. Or, to translate:

Forth is the one true language; all others shall bow before it.

This is how you make enemies out of otherwise highly intelligent people.

Yes. I, too, strongly prefer Forth over C. But, you know what? Who cares? You don’t see me harrassing the greater C(-like) community at every opportunity, and when I do voice a complaint, I almost always have a specific, technical reason behind my angst. And the responses I get back often teaches me something new I didn’t already know.

As it happens, I am fluent in Rust, Forth, and C. I work in all three often. I’ve used all three in deep-embedded applications, in server back-end environments, and in desktop environments. And, at the end of the day, my Forth, Rust, and C experiences have mutually benefitted my work in all three languages.

So, with all due respect, stop it. Just fucking stop it already. Seek help.

I’d tell this particular individual to grow up; however, he’s at least 20 years my senior. He should know better. Absolute embarrassment.
